Meet the real Kentucky "Wiener Dogs", dachshunds Woody and Chloe as they bring their Reading Road Show to the Barr Library on Fort Knox on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 4:00pm. Books will be available for purchase after the event.

Looks like a great weekend to wrap up Fall Break. There's so much fun in the neighborhood - your challenge will be deciding where to go, NOT what to do. Check out the fun happenings below:

30th Annual Bardstown Arts, Crafts and Antiques Fair - Bardstown (all day)

7th Annual Pumpkin Fest - Hinton's Orchard and Farm, Hodgenville (all day)

Hoedown Day - Hardinsburg (all day)

Old Fashion Days - Linwood (all day)

Lowes Build and Grow Workshop - Elizabethtown (10am)

Michael's Great Pumpkin Event - Elizabethtown (10am - 2pm)

Climb on Aboard - Riverfront Park, Brandenburg (1-3pm)

Missoula's Children's Theatre "The Tortoise and the Hare" - Devers Youth Center, Fort Knox (1pm & 4pm)

So load up the swagger wagon, flip a coin and head out for some Fall Fairs, Festivals and Fun....oh my!!

10/5-10/6: Owls in October

This week is sponsored by the Letter "O" - Owls in October.

Take the kids to see a matinee of Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole. Showtimes at Movie Palace in Elizabethtown are 1:30  4:00  6:30  9:00pm.

Then, head over to Bernheim Forest on Wednesday, October 6 at 10:30am for O.W.L.S.: Tagging Along with the Monarchs. $5 members; $8 non-members. Advanced registration is required.

Fall Break is upon us this week. Let's get creative to keep the kids entertained. Maybe consider a day trip to Louisville for museum and zoo fun or head to Lexington to tour the horse parks. Or if you don't want to go that far, you can venture into activities such as:

Hey Betties!

Load up the swagger wagon and head to Home Depot...no, it's not home project weekend. It's time to Build. Learn. Create at the "How-to Workshops" for kids. This weekend they will build a Fireboat on Saturday, Oct. 2. FREE hands-on sessions are offered the first Saturday of each month from 9am - noon. Get in the know here.

10/2-10/3: Aussie Fest at KY Down Under

G'day Betties!

Load up the swagger wagon, pack some snacks and head down to Cave Country for the Aussie Fest at Kentucky Down Under this weekend, Oct. 2-3. Enjoy lots of Aussie competitions with lots of prizes, then check out all the amazing Aussie animals in the Outback Walkabout, like kangaroos, wallabies and emus.Tons of fun for the whole family.
